Folder   Final seminar of the PRAVOK Project "Fostering civil society in Serbia"

The final seminar of PRAVOK project, “Fostering civil society in Serbia”, was held in Belgrade on December 16th 2008, at Institute of Economic Sciences. This initiative has been organised in collaboration with the Institute of Economic Sciences of Belgrade and the Link Campus University of Malta. The seminar has been focused on the presentation and discussion of the “Guidelines on the Management of Juridical and Non-juridical Obstacles for Civil Society”. The Guidelines have been drafted by CERFE, at the end of the PRAVOK project, financed by the Italian Development Cooperation, organised as an integrated itinerary including research, training and public communication activities. The Guidelines contain information and interpretative elements on the current juridical and non-juridical obstacles to civil society in Serbia, and some suggestions and recommendations for overcoming these obstacles, also bearing in mind the positive experiences gained and those underway in this country. The three parts of the Guidelines concern the map of the obstacles for civil society, a broad interpretation of the related risks and opportunities, and the possible ways of setting up and implementing training activities in this regard. The Guidelines are directed to public, private, non-profit national and international organisations interested in carrying out initiatives aimed at removing the existing obstacles to the activation of civil society. After the welcome addresses by Srdjan Redzepagic (vice director of Institute of Economic Sciences) and Anna Zambrano (head of Local Technical Unit of Italian Cooperation) and the introduction of Gabriele Quinti (Director of CERFE), Daniele Mezzana (PRAVOK project manager) presented the Guidelines. The discussion was introduced by the interventions of Miroslav Prokopijevic (Institute of European Studies) and Dejan Milenkovic (lawyer and legal expert of YUCOM). Stanka Parac (Local Democracy Agency of Subotica ), Zdenka Milivojevic, Association ARGUMENT), Miljan Radunovic (AEGEE Association) and Vesna Kolundzija (NGO Re-Akcija) intervened also during the seminar. Guidelines are being revised according to suggestions arosed during the seminar discussion. The final version of the Guidelines will be available on-line.
