Since 1987 the Centro di Ricerca e Documentazione Febbraio ’74 has been called by its acronym CERFE in order to simplify its name also in view of two of the institute’s features: the international dimension, which called for a shorter name, and its lay and pluralistic culture.
As regards the latter aspect, in particular, the aim was to attenuate but not to completely eliminate the reference made to the conference of Roman catholics on expectations of justice and charity, held in Rome in February 1974, that had inspired the institute’s founders, especially for the surprising ermergence of a society capable of bringing about social development, and which was extraordinarily visible on that very occasion. |
